Banana Hazelnut Chocolate Chunk Magic Ice Cream

And you thought you’d seen the last of the “magic ice cream” posts!

Surely you overestimate my creative genius when faced with a pile of nearly black bananas and half a jar of homemade hazelnut butter.

Yes, this is the  lazy inventive woman’s dessert – one that takes only 10 minutes to whip up.   Did I mention it includes chocolate?

So if you’re faced with the same dilemma, you might as well make a batch of this creamy, delightful “ice cream” – and enjoy it guilt-free.  Try swapping in any other nut butter of your choice – creamy or chunky,  it doesn’t matter, go with whatever makes your mouth happy…

Banana Hazelnut Chocolate Chunk Magic Ice Cream

Prep Time: 1 hour, 15 minutes

Yield: two generous 1 cup servings

  • 3 ripe bananas,peeled, sliced, and frozen solid
  • 1/3 cup hazelnut butter
  • 2 oz. dark chocolate, chopped
  • optional: dark chocolate curls and hazelnuts for garnish
    Prepare bananas:
  1. peel and slice bananas
  2. place on a parchment lined cookie sheet or baking pan
  3. freeze until solid, about 1 hour.
  4. Prepare Ice Cream
  5. Add banana slices to food processor. Pulse until the mixture starts to become creamy, stopping to push the mixture down towards the blade occasionally. This will take about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Add the hazulnut butter and chopped chocolate and pulse briefly until thoroughly combined.
  7. Enjoy right away for a soft serve texture, or cover and freeze for up to 2 days. Allow ice cream to soften a few minutes at room temperature, then enjoy!
